Like many during these times, I found myself wanting to see new destinations, but I knew I could only travel in thought.
Using photographs as my vessel, I imagined the places I wished to be and let the paint carry me away. I wasn't necessarily looking for a cohesive palette; I was trying to pay attention to the direction my soul needed me to go.
Guided by my emotions, I noticed a desire to express my pent-up energy through bold colors and gestural strokes. Each expression swayed between loud and unabashed to calm and gentle. These paintings, like our emotions, comprise a vast array of moments. How we feel every moment may not always look "pretty." But either way, each moment is essential to express, whichever way that may look for each of us.
This entire process was the catharsis I needed during this time of my life. I hope that the energy in my paintings makes you feel a little bit better, knowing you're not alone in the variety of moods you have been experiencing in this time of your life.
